Coming Events

There are a number of Town boards and commissions with approval/oversight authority for the planning phase of the Library project. Their meetings are always open to the public, some are televised, and they are usually very sparsely attended. Most of these will have some sort of "library update" agenda item throughout the fall. However, some meetings will be more important than others, so we'll summarize what to expect at each so you can decide whether to attend. In particular, we'll explicitly call out when we'd like people to take ACTION.

September
Mon. 9/26 @ 7pm ... Special Town Meeting @ Ames High
There are expected to be at least three relevant items on the warrant. One is to accept the ground lease which is an obvious YES -- we want the Library to move forward. The other two relate to the access road, which are obvious NOs -- the proposed changes to the road aren't safe.

ACTION: This meeting is a MUST ATTEND. Bring lots of like-minded friends.

Wed. 9/28 @ 8:15pm ... Planning & Zoning Board @ Town Hall
This will be the next opportunity for the Library's engineers to present an official site plan for review.

ACTION: This meeting is a SHOULD ATTEND.

October
Wed. 10/5 ... International Walk To School Day
Is there enough time to organize participation in this international event at one or more of our schools this fall?

Wed. 10/5 (?) @ 6:30pm ... Planning & Zoning Board @ Town Hall
Tue. 10/11 @ 6:30pm ... Historical Commission @ Town Hall
Wed. 10/19 @ 6:30pm ... Planning & Zoning Board @ Town Hall

If you know of anything we've missed, by all means let us know. See you there!
